2008 Tournament Rules

  1. The 2008 Bluegrass Classic will be an USBC sanctioned tournament and the following shall apply concerning entering averages:
    1. It is required that all entrants hold a current season USBC membership cards. Non-USBC members may qualify for entry by purchase of an associate membership for $21.00 (men) or $16.00 (women) OR by payment of a $5.00 (men and women) participation fee.
    2. Bowlers shall use their highest USBC book average from the 2006/2007 season (minimum 21 games).
    3. If no book average is available, the highest current average held on or before December 1, 2007 will be used (minimum 21 games).
    4. A bowler's December 1, 2007 average will automatically be used if it is 10 or more pins higher than last year's highest book average. (USBC Rule #319a-2 the "10-Pin Rule" shall apply in its entirety).
    5. All others will enter at 225 for men; 200 for women. (USBC Rule #319b)
    6. Handicap for the tournament shall be based on 80% of the difference between the bowler's average and 225.
    7. Any bowler holding PBA membership is ineligible for entry into Bluegrass Classic.

  2. Bowlers are responsible for verifying his/her own average, whether originally submitted by the bowler, his/her team captain, or others. If the submitted average is lower than required and results in a lower classification or more handicap, the bowler's score is disqualified. If the submitted average is higher than required, prize winnings will be based on the submitted average. Average corrections can be made up to the end of the bowler's first game of a series. (USBC Rule #319a-3 and USBC Rule #319a-4).

  3. A bowler who has qualified for a prize of $600 or more in the position standings prize list in any event in a tournament, including all-events, within the past 12-month period must provide tournament management with notification, as required by USBC Rule #319d, to be used for possible re-rating of the bowler's entering average. Failure to comply with these provisions is cause of a forfeiture of entry fees and prize winnings.

  4. Bowlers whose tournament avereage exceeds their book average or December 1, 2007 average by 15 pins or more pins shall use the accumulated tournament average for the tournament. Tournament averages must be submitted prior to the first game of the tournament. (USBC Rule #319e shall be enforced in its entirety).

  5. The average of any bowler may be adjusted by the Tournament Directors upon the recommendation of the local Bowling Association of the bowler in question. Any adjustment must be made before the entrant bowls. If the assigned average is not accepted by the bowler, the entry fee shall be refunded. (USBC Rule #319c)

  6. The receipt of an entry and its acceptance by the Secretary for one or more events, and the amount of the money received, shall regulate the number of players who participate. Each participant may enter only once for each event. There will be NO REFUNDS after the Secretary's acceptance.

  7. Entries must be accompanied by the FULL amount of fees due to be considered complete. Money orders and checks should be made payable to "Bluegrass Classic 2008". Personal checks will not be accepted after the postmark deadline of January 17, 2008. All expenses incurred by the 2008 Bluegrass Classic in association with returned checks shall be reimbursed by the account owner of the returned check.

  8. Entries must be postmarked by January 17, 2008. Entries postmarked the first post office business day following the entry closing date shall be accepted.

  9. Bowlers may bowl only once in each event. Each event consists of three (3) games, for a total of nine (9). Team and Doubles will be bowled in tandem.

  10. All claims of error must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Director no later than one hour after the bowler or team has bowled.

  11. Substitutes will be allowed to bowl at the Secretary's discretion. Any substitute must register with the Secretary at least one hour before entering contest.

  12. A bowler may win only one special awards category. Each event, including all-events, shall have its own prize list which is based upon a minimum return ratio of 1:10. There will be a 100 percent return of all prize fees.

  13. Late bowlers shall start bowling in the frame in which they are prepared to bowl; prior frames will be scored zero.

  14. Bowlers should check in upon arrival at the bowling lanes.

  15. Bowlers shall not be permitted to practice on their assigned lanes on their scheduled day of bowling. All games will be conducted at AMF Rose Bowl Lanes, 2217 Goldsmith Lane, Louisville, Kentucky, 40218. (502) 451-5717.

  16. All prize money will be awarded within 30 days of the tournament.

  17. In matters of dispute, the Tournament Director's decision is final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC Rule #329.
